Last week I vacationed at Fair- ways at Palm Aire at Pompano Beach, Florida on a trade. Check in time is 4:00 p.m. No exceptions.
Several years ago I did a tine share trade in Kauai. Same check in time, also no exceptions. I own two weeks at Club International in Cancun. Their check in time is also 4:00 p.m. The dif- ference being: If you have a flight that gets you to Cancun at an earlier time and you arrive at Club International early aflemoon and they have your room cleaned they check you in. No problem. To me and many others this only seems to be reasonable. In the case of Fairways at Palm Aire, the

desk clerks did not seem to be busy. We arrived around 3:30 and there were other couples in the lobby wait- ing to check in. Why not (if the room is available) just check people in as they arrive to avoid a line waiting to check in at exactly 4:00 p.m. In Kauai, it was the same. Clerks not busy and at 4:00 a.m., a line forming. Club In- ternational avoids this, making it easier for both visitors and the desk clerks.
The employees at Club Interna- tional are exceptional in doing every- thing in their power to accommodate vacationers.

Embaradero Pacifico bookings
I am writing in response to the article about the Embarcadero Pacifico in Puerta Vallarta in the May/ Jun issue. I am also an owner at this resort.
In February, when the due date for payment of my maintenance had passed without receiving a notice, I called a friend with Interval who through a friend in Puerto Vallarta, got me the telephone number for the main office in Guadalajara. I spoke with a lady who understood perfect English. She told me to contact Victor Torres in P.V. and gave me his email address. Victor responded quickly to my ques- tions and told me they had changed agents in the U.S. It is Vallarta Ma- rina, S.A. de C.V., 413 Interamerica Blvd. WH1, Laredo, TX 78045. They do not have a telephone nor an email address. I asked him if I could still deduct the 5% discount for paying early and he said yes.
On May 13 and 18, I sent Victor
an email requesting 3 weeks beginning Jan 4, 2003. His assistant, Yolanda Perez, told me that January 2003 was completely booked. I had requested a one-bedroom Jan 4-25. I couldn’t be- lieve that this could be possible so early in the year. I told her that when I was there two years previous, that many people were coming in on a package deal which included air, lodging, food and drinks. I told her that as owners we were being squeezed out of the High Season months.
Later, that same day, she emailed me that she could put us into The Vil- las across the street on the ocean. These are older units, but larger rooms. We were able to get a king-size bed, and the kitchens have a full stove. It is much quieter there and you have the use of both facilities.
They are now able to accept pay- ments on credit cards. The coupons are mailed to Laredo, TX. Once she has this information, she emails you back a confirmation number, and you bring that with you when you arrive. She can be reached at yperez@ embarcadero.com.mx. She speaks good English and was most courteous. If you pay in full, you get a 10% dis- count.
I am providing my email address if anyone wishes to contact me.

In a recent letter to salespeople at Fairfield Resorts, Bob Albertson, VP of Sales and Marketing, suggested how they could leverage their new status as a wholly-owned subsidiary of Cendant at the sales table. However,
