Weeks for non-owners

USA Interactive’s press release about its acquisition of Interval Interna- tional noted that its companies will offer travel packages that utilize resort in- ventory from Interval International and its developer clients. If these travel packages take weeks out of the exchange pool of timeshares available to II members, II can expect to hear complaints from its members similar to those emanating as a result of RCI’s rental programs open to the general public. Those concerns of RCI members are not likely to be assuaged by the revelation that weeks of RCI Points members are not available to RCI Weeks members and are rented out to cover the cost of airfares or cruises provided to RCI Points members. (See article at page 33.)

Reminder about articles

Whenever you see a focus or other article without an author’s by-line, you can be sure of one thing: the subscriber who sent in the article forgot to put his or her name on the article itself. Sending us a cover letter or Post-it note with your name is not sufficient. When the articles are put through the scanner, the cover letter or note can easily get separated. When we are getting the article ready for printing in the issue, we then discover that the cover letter or note is not with the article and we have no idea of the author’s name. We want to give you the proper recognition, but can only do so when you remember to put your name on the same paper as the article itself.

Website supplement to magazine

We are strong believers in the benefits of publishing our magazine on paper, even though we have many subscribers to our Online Edition. Having said that, we also recognize that there are many features of our Website at www.tstoday.com which go beyond what is possible in a printed magazine.

Message Boards: By far the most popular and most frequently visited area of our Website, these include a General Message Board, Boards for par- ticular areas, resort groups and special interests. The use of message boards to find out about resorts and areas for potential or already-arranged exchange has actually changed one aspect of our printed edition: we are no longer including a Bulletin Board on a regular basis in the magazine.

Owners Direct Exchange: Owners can seek to arrange exchanges di- rectly with other owners through a message board dedicated for this purpose.

Resort Report Cards: A complete list of more than 300 updated Resort Report Card ratings will be published at the end of this year or early in 2003. We obviously cannot republish all of the complete Resort Report Cards in the magazine. However, all Resort Report Cards are now available on the Website and updated versions will be posted when the updated ratings are published.

Live Chat: We have recently added a live timeshare chat session for Sun- day evenings from 9 p.m. to 11 p.m. Eastern time.

Timeshare Basics: This online “booklet” is an extensive explanation of all aspects of timesharing, from the earliest days to the current points systems.

Classified ads: Our classified ads are updated daily with ads placed on our Website by people who want only online advertising exposure. (All ads pub- lished in the magazine are posted on the Website after publication, without cost.)

Staff vacation

Our office will be closed for vacation during the week of July 21 through July 28. Email and telephone messages will not be returned until July 29th.
