2011 Media Information

Editor’s comment

Independent Retail News is dedicated to providing independent retailers, whether they see themselves as a convenience store, a traditional independent retailer, or a CTN, with the kind of musthave information that will help them in the daytoday running of their stores, sharing best practice and keeping them up to date with the latest news affecting the sector.

It is the one magazine that has consistently been there for independent retailers over the years. We will continue that tradition in 2011, focusing on issues such as responsible retailing, smuggled alcohol and tobacco, and calling for fair treatment for retailers when it comes to energy contracts.

The magazine is also a strong supporter of industrywide initiatives such at National Independents’ Week, Walk & Shop Day and the ACS Heart of the Community campaign.

We are the only trade title aimed exclusively at independent retailers whose buying decisions are not dictated by head office – a market that is hard to reach through other means. The magazine goes out to 42,000 independent retailers once every two weeks.

For suppliers to independent stores, Independent Retail News helps them to target thousands of individual businesses.

Written by some of the most experienced journalists in the sector, the news, product news and regular Category Focus features keep retailers informed of all the key developments in the market – including new product lines, breaking TV campaigns and highprofile marketing promotions – helping them decide what to put on their shelves.

Throughout the year we publish a series of special supplements for retailers looking for information on the opportunities in key areas.

We are also delivering to retailers across new platforms, using the Internet via a separate independent channel on TalkingRetail.com.

We are also the prime source of information for retailers on vital issues such as the latest tobacco legislation, employment law, alcohol regulations, crime, planning and competition concerns.

Our aim for 2011 is to further strengthen our position as the leading title for independent convenience retailers.
