THE CYPRUS TURKISH EDUCATION SYSTEM

Geography Social studies program is drawn up from local to international, from individuals to communities. Geography enables the individual to have information about his environment primarily, then his country and the

world.

It is aimed to raise individuals who relate human to space, assimilate the formation and development of the natural environment that they live in, become aware of the importance of their existence in saving today and creating tomorrow in a rapidly changing and developing world. It is also aimed to raise an awareness of causes and effects of many problems encountered in daily life as Geography comprises the core of the relations between human and nature. For that reason, problems and solutions on the topics of Geography are reflected to the lessons. Samples are given from the life itself. Emphasis is given to cause and effect relation through visual materials.

Philosophy Through philosophy subjects it is aimed to teach the scientific results and tought that exist in sociology, psychology and philosophy thus, developing pupils' view points toward life.

The main purpose of the Philosophy subject is "to teach thinking" which is the real function of the human-being and which provides the individual with human feelings. Within this framework, philosophy subjects aim to contribute to raising active individuals who know how to think, who make meaningful critiques, who try to find out the causes-effects of and solutions to the problems, have an awareness of adopting a specified manner toward the problems, who have a tolerant approach toward different ideas, who express themselves as an individual among these ideas, who put their truth into action.

The purpose of the Psychology, on the other hand is to provide the pupil to be acquainted with himself and to develop an awareness on social relations.

3) Foreign Language

Foreign language programs are actively implemented as the acquisition of German and French as a foreign language, apart from English, is regarded as an advantage in finding a job and attending higher education in both our country and other countries and these languages are widely used in the areas of economy, policy, tourism, culture-arts, science- technique.

The primary function of the language program is effective communication and interaction. It is intended to enable the pupil to reach a satisfactory level in all four areas (listening, reading, speaking and writing) without giving priority to any skill within communication approach.
