we have never had in any historical period. On the focus of these changes there is "knowledge" and "science". Developments based on knowledge and technology have caused transformations in social structures as well. Transformation processes to Information Society have been going along with its problems.
In education systems, on the other hand, there have been continuous changes and searches in every respect, from the duration of education, types of school, to educational programs. Depending on the approach of "lifelong learning for everyone" and the requirements of the new century, education systems have been turned into a structure which appreciates each individual, which teaches ways and methods to access information, which includes an effective guidance service, which enables horizontal and vertical transition, which conforms to the professional standards in the market, which views computer technology as a part of life, which gives priority to production-oriented education and cares for equality of opportunity.
In parallel with these changes and developments, the demand for quality education is increasing day by day in our country. Significant changes have been observed in the structure of Cyprus Turkish Society, in its demographic structure, in the structure of family, in consumption understanding, in human rights, in politics, in science and technology. In this sense, it is expected education itself both to enable the child to carry on his development, to be socialized, to turn democracy into a way of life and thought and to meet the labor force demand from economy, to enable vertical mobility in society through equality of opportunity.
Considering all these improvements and continuously changing factors in the world, the only way for the Cyprus Turkish Society to take up its worthy position in the international arena is to invest in human resources and to improve the presentation of social infrastructure services. This could be achieved by offering each individual of the Cyprus Turkish Society an education which enables adaptation to the competitive environment in international markets and mental improvement of the individual, which gives priority to searching and creativity, in formal and informal institutions within the approach of lifelong learning.
The Cyprus Turkish Education System would make a healthy progress through the understanding of a democratic management which gives emphasis on the equality of social class, equality of gender, individual and local differences and conforms to the principles of participation and clarity; and through the constructive proposals arising from reconciliation platforms under the circumstances of any period. Thus it is proposed that the education system be reconstructed in every respect in parallel with the followings.
We would like to thank teachers' unions, academicians, teachers, pupils, parents and the media for their contributions and the ones who expend efforts to the process of the reconstructing the Cyprus Turkish education system.
