THE CYPRUS TURKISH EDUCATION SYSTEM
Measurement and Assessment
The assessment of pupils, which forms an integral part of teaching, is used as a tool to determine the degree of success of the aims set by the curricula. Assessment combines a variety of methods and techniques so that it can achieve a reliable, objective and fair evaluation of the knowledge, the critical thinking and the skills of the pupils.
Assessment contributes to self-improvement, self-assessment, autonomous thinking, the level of their learning and their abilities. Guidance Services and Orientation
Each individual is of value. He is unique regardless of his age, abilities, performance and status. He has also the right of optimum development. For that reason psychological consulting and guidance (PDR) services are offered at individual level.
The Comprehensive Developmental Guidance and Physiological Consulting Services are offered at all education levels. The main purpose of guidance services is to provide each pupil with effective learning opportunities to be successful in academic (educational), career (vocational) and personal/social (individual) developmental areas within proactive and preventive understanding.
To serve this aim, the guidance services unit is established within each school. The guidance counselor offers guidance and orientation services by establishing co-operation with school-parents-pupil, teacher-teacher and pupil- teacher(s) on a continuous basis.
