1 – APRIL
Nader Dakdouk, President
I was born in Lebanon; my father is Ghazi Dakdouk and my mother is Mona Al-Jaouhari from Aramoun. My parents migrated to Ohio in 1979 when I was seven years old. After all these years, I was really looking forward for my return visit to my homeland in the summer of 1996, where I met my wife Zalfa Aridi, and we now have a beautiful six year old daughter, Dina.
I am pleased to tell you that a new Ohio chap- ter has been reestablished on January 27th 2008. It’s a great honor for me to represent the Druze community in Ohio. Our board is very passionate & impressively motivated to serve our society & make this chapter a great success. We are off to a good start, with 74 current members & planning on increasing our chapter memberships.
I would like to recognize our dedicated board members: Mr. Nahed Al- Jawhari (Vice President), Mrs. Lisa Al-Jaouhari (Secretary), Mr. Anis Kordab (Treasurer) and our directors: Mr. Faris Alameh, Mr. Akram Jaafar, Mr. Fadi bou-khzam, Dr. Rima Muaakassa, Mr. Chad Dakdouk, Mrs. Linda Al-Masri and Mr. Ghassan Baz.
The major drive behind forming this chapter was the swirls of enthusi- asm and inspiration of my fellow Druze here in Ohio, and their strong belief of the need to have a non-profit organization that serves & contributes to our community. Our outermost purpose is to create a social environment for our youth so they can meet and relate to one another, understand and preserve our cultural heritage, traditions and faith.
It is a noble act and a challenge to be able to serve the society without any expectations; there- fore, I would like to extend my gratitude to all mem- bers who contributed to the success of forming this chapter with their dedication and hard work. I would like to, specifically, thank Dr. Rima Muaakassa for kindly cooperating with us to reach our goal.
Finally, special thanks to Mr. Shauki Halime and his wife, Sarah, for giving us the opportunity to an- nounce the birth of our Ohio chapter to Druze all over the world.
