1 – APRIL
Rabih Hamze, President
ADS Richmond chapter has been very successful, over the years, at bringing the community together, which was one of its first priorities. As newly elected president, I am committed, as well as my dedicated board members, to make every endeavor in order to maintain these valuable assets in our community and to achieve the longevity of our chapter. I believe that it is our responsibility to pass on these wonderful traditions to our youth. It a vital matter we should take seriously. We can accomplish that through various activities and continuous interaction.
Here, in Richmond, we are proud to have started an Arabic language program, which is now serving about 40 students. Our community center is available and open at all times for pleasant events as well as for sorrowing ones. Families are welcomed every Sunday, or any other day, to spend a wonderful time at the center, while enjoying the various sports activities offered: volleyball, basketball, foosball, ping pong…Kids have a great time on the playgrounds around the center and through various kids’ club activities. This summer was fun and eventful. Community members gathered for several picnics and sports tournament. Families enjoyed bread fresh off the “saag” during the Folklore Night.
Yard sales are always held to raise some needed funds to sustain our chapter, and this is made possible through the participation and generous contributions of our committed members.
Thank you for your continuous support, which will allow our cultural center to prosper. We are looking forward to working with our members and serving them better.

Happy New Year and blessed Adha from ADS IL chapter. As all ADS chapters over the US, we've been lately overwhelmed with all the wonderful celebrations. New Year party was a blast. It was held on December 31st, a week after Adha party. Our families and friends got together & welcomed 2008 in a festive atmosphere. Everybody danced the dabkeh and enjoyed the latest music hits.
Raghida Arbid Chapter Secretary Very active & energetic community leader, working hard for the good of the Society.
On December 22nd, we celebrated Eid Al Adha. Joy of the Eid and the deep meanings of it occupied the majority of the speeches. Also this year, our kids were reminded of our great tradition of the Eid. For the occasion, they decorated piggy banks boxes with Druze stars to save money for orphanage houses. Kids were rewarded with Adha gifts and everyone enjoyed the delicious Arabic food.
On October 28, We had a spooky Halloween party. Games, prizes, delicious pizza and gifts kept everybody occupied till the last minute. Our kids were very scary but cool in their costumes.
Currently, we are planning for the upcoming 2008 spring and summer picnics. Thanks to the board members and all the volunteers who had helped to make our 2007 parties a success.
