infor- & the
Julie started collecting American Druze Society (ADS) mate- rial and memorabilia since she went to the first convention as a youngster in 1947. However, she turned the material over to the American Druze Society’s officers when she went to live in Leba- non with her husband, Dr. Sami Makarem. She has not been able to recover the material for all of the early years of the Society’s existence; therefore, as she wrote the history for those years, many years were unavailable. Therefore, she asks that anyone who may have ADS material, whatever years for which they may be, send the material to her. She will pay for the postage, and if requested, return the material to the sender. The material will be given to the University of Michigan Bentley Historical Library where Julie’s papers are stored in the archives (see: americandru- zeheritage.com, Bentley Historical Library, Julie Makarem Papers, University of Michigan).
