led, producing flour for the area - he died aged 97! After visiting the mill, we drove up to Noak Hill and had a drink in The Bear. This pub once housed a bear pit, hence the name. We were hoping to meet Suz and Dean, another SCORE couple, but her mobile was engaged and we had to leave without them.
We then drove up through the lovely countryside towards Ongar and finally stopped at a pub called The Woodman - built over 900 years ago. I think by this time everyone had built up an appetite and just couldn’t wait to check out what was on the vast menu. We all had a wonderful meal, sharing memories of precious SCORE events and chatting about the day we had spent together.
I got some ideas for future days out and hope everyone will attend these. I enjoyed the experience very much and think everyone else did too. Yippee!
