With the car now totally road worthy and all the rust gone it was time to think about the interior. The next move was to find a trim shop, I was given a contact called Adam who owns a trim company over in Enfield, Middlesex (www.b-trim.co.uk); what a genuine guy: he looked at the car and we discussed a few options and finally decided on a Napper leather in black and red. I dropped the car off on the Sunday evening and by Wednesday it was ready. What a difference: it felt just like a new car, and the smell of the new leather was divine. I have also decided to fit new bumpers to both the front and rear, these too are from Dany.

Any restoration project does come with a price tag, but all in all I have only spent what I would have originally paid for the car in the first place and feel that I now have a vehicle that is restored properly and to my specifications. Of course there is always more one can do, and indeed it’s already destined to go to Cappuccino Sport to have the final makeover of the suspension, have central locking and an alarm fitted, along with a blow off valve, new air filter and engine strut. Dany will also overhaul the gear box too. I’m hoping that this work will be completed within the next month.

As I work for an airline flying Long Haul I don’t always have the time to make it to the SCORE events, however this summer I’m determined that I will! I very much look forward to meeting as many SCORE members as possible. To round off this story I would like to give my sincere thanks to all those SCORE members that have helped me with advice, Dany from Cappuccino Sport, Paul from E-Styling, Adam from B-Trim, and Barry and Derek from Suzuki Chiswick which is now a Suzuki SCORE Dealer!

A BIGGER Suzuki 2-seater! By Anthony Hoyland

This is me and my pride and joy, my Suzuki X-90. I have owned it for 4 years now. The reason for liking them is I like the shape and the style of the car - that’s what made me start to like them. I looked at about 7 Suzuki X-90s and this was the best example. It was from Hoyle Brothers 4x4 Centre in Bradford, West Yorkshire for a good price. It drove like it was brand new, having only done 42.000 and it was for me! We shook on it. I was very pleased: it was my first car and I had not even passed my test at this time, giving me some time to strip the car down and clean everything on it. The X-90 looks like new now and I give it a good clean as it is my everyday car for work. The reason for being in the SCORE CLUB is my friend Gavin Radforth, who introduced me. I went to Harewood House last year and this year I decided to go to the Annual Rally at Chatsworth House. I met Martin Jones there and after him dealing with the Top Men at SCORE. I am proud to be a member, finding everyone in SCORE to be very helpful and welcoming. Thanks!
