Changes within the Steering Group
As we go to press, there are some important announcements to make.
Alex Clouter will be stepping down from his Editor role at the end of this year and having sold his Cappuccino - now restored by its new owner - he will not be renewing his membership. “It was a hard decision to make but after 11 years within SCORE I have now reached the end of the line in every respect. It’s been a truly enjoyable experience, making some great friendships and some unbelievable Cappuccino events both in this country and overseas. The club has always been about the enjoyment of owning a Cappo and although we know that there will be fewer numbers in the years to come, SCORE will still be there, perhaps in a different form, to keep the froth flowing amongst the more cherished sports cars. I wish you all well.” If you are keen to be involved in producing future magazine issues, please contact Alex on 01903 267770. It would be helpful to have experience in Microsoft Publisher or perhaps the Mac-based Creative Suite or Quark design packages.
Ian Linden may be moving overseas early next year. “When this happens it would be impractical for me to continue as Membership Secretary with what is entailed in posting out packs to new members as well as subscription renewals. So we’re looking for another SCORE member to join the Steering Group and take this on. If you know your way around Microsoft Excel and Access database packages, or would like to learn, the job is not onerous and is absolutely crucial to the continuation of SCORE. Please contact me at email@example.com or at 2 Marlborough Rise, Camberley, Surrey GU15 2ED, tel. 01276 503 630.” Ian will still continue as Treasurer provided the Membership Secretary banks the subscription cheques but if the new person wants to take the finances on as well, Ian would hand this over as well.
We welcome another SCORE Member into the Steering Group - Martin Jones - who came forward to be the new Events Co-ordinator, the new focal point for the Regional/Country Representatives. Ably and lovingly supported by his wife, Linda, he has done an incredible number and different types of events in his region and it is this ‘driving force’ that has spurred him on to become more involved with SCORE centrally and liaise with the rest of the regional/country team. Martin will still be the Rep for his region.
The quest for a Club Secretary continues, someone who is willing to take on the SCORE helm and keep the rest of us in order! Seriously, the role is more of a “cheer leader” within the club, encouraging the Steering Group and members in general to participate and innovate, to keep the club healthy, positive and exciting. He or she would keep an eye open for things that would benefit members’ pockets and club funds alike. If the Steering Group is split 50/50 on a proposal, the Club Sec will exercise the casting vote. Anyone rising to the challenge must contact Ian Linden.
