Electronic Service Agent for i5/OS V5R3 Simplified Activation User Guide - Version 1.0

  • If you are using a dial connection, can the modem and resource be used for Service Agent connections to IBM? Reference Appendix A: Modem and Resource Information on page 11 for supported modem and resource specifications.

  • Verify the connection number for AT&T Global Network Services (AGNS) is current. For the most up-to-date connection numbers, see https://help.attbusiness.net Select the Access Numbers link.

  • Modem resource for dial connections, if applicable.

  • Dialing prefix for dial connections, if applicable.

  • VPN capability, if applicable. The prerequisites for enabling service configurations over a direct Internet connection include:

    • The iSeries server must have a globally routable IP address, or the server must be behind a NAT firewall with a globally routable address.

    • Ensure that TCP/IP is active. You can start TCP/IP through the Start TCP/IP (STRTCP) command.

    • Ensure your default TCP/IP route, or a host route, directs traffic out the appropriate TCP/IP interface to the Internet to allow the VPN to be established to IBM.

For more information about different types of VPN connections, see this IBM eServer iSeries Information Center article:
