April 2011

Jean Henke AGHOA Recorder & Publisher of the Greenleaf

The last AG- HOA meeting was held Feb. 17, 2011 at the fire house on Maximus. A resident brought up the issue that someone was doing core sampling at the corner of Acres Green and Maxi- mus Drives on school property. We had not been informed of any building or activity on that land.

Sandy provided the treasurer report. Bills included an Xcel bill for lighting the East Entrance Sign, a donation to the Acres Green Elementary School Auction and deposit on the South Metro Fire meeting room. The only out- standing bill was for the delivery of the Feb. newsletter by the Boy Scouts.

Alyce sent an e-mail reporting that we have 139 memberships for 2011 plus other checks that were not counted yet. So we are esti- mating that we have about 15% of the families in the community as

members. This is a good percent- age for a voluntary association.

Pat reported that while we were asking about putting a picnic table at the rest area off the Willow Creek Trail and Dianna Dr., South Suburban sent us an estimate for a park bench, which cost $1,000. Pat requested a quote on a picnic ta- ble. (subsequent to this, we got a quote for the table of less than $600). Our cost for the Matching Gifts portion would be less than $300.

Kathy reported there are two ways to reduce your tax responsi- bility by volunteering at either the school district or South Suburban. Min. wage is credited to your tax- es if you volunteer for either or- ganization. This is available to Seniors 60 and over for the school district and 65 and over for South Suburban. There is a maximum number of hours they will allow you to work for this tax reduction.

Kathy also brought two publi- cations for seniors. The Adult Connection from South Suburban and Prime Time for Seniors. She also spoke about the Koebel Li- brary program.

Jean mentioned several people are interested in helping with the front garden. She sent out a con- tact list to all those folks and a general schedule for planting. We still need to get together to order plants and get some soil amend- ment for the beds.

Jean mentioned that the new Douglas County Sheriff’s substa- tion is now open in Highlands Ranch. Pat spoke on the opening and how it will be used.

Pat asked everyone if they would be in favor of an all mail-in ballot. There were mixed feelings regarding that issue. We adjourned about 8:00.
