Eastern Segment T5-2: Praia do Alho
It abuts a beautiful lagoon that is safe for swimming and has natural areas on three sides.
Front section: 20.0 Back section: 51.0 Irregular topography with small section of slopes less than 25%. 0-60m
Dense vegetation except for the eastern section which is subject to severe erosion.
Seaward and landward 0-800m
The existing access is via the beachfront road which is severely eroded and impassable in places.
Several concessions have been issued for this piece of land, as described in paragraph 2.3.3.
A camp site and some chalets under construction, as well as ruins of
‘traditional huts’ for tourists. Planning Framework
Detailed planning to be done during the second phase including back section planning in the third phase.
Front section: Hotels, bungalows and a camp site.
Density and Land Division
Front section: medium to low density hotels and bungalows; 1- 5ha stands with density of less than 20 units per hectare
Back section: Residential and Camping
Hotel Beds: 600 Camping visitors: 250 Residents/Guests: 1,500
Roads and Pedestrian Network
Temporary access gained from the front road and later through lateral roads connecting backset roads.
A lateral road on the western boundary of the site is planned to connect the backset road with the beachfront. The other feeder road passes through the middle of the site.
EIA Development could follow the natural or traditional architecture.
Implementation is only possible once the backset road has been constructed. Only concessionaires who have already submitted plans would be allowed to develop.
