  • I.

    Welcome & Introductions/Approval of 2007 Meeting Minutes Pam Kennedy, Coordinator-Elect, stated the need for a larger room for next year’s meeting. The SIG leadership was present and acknowledgement of Pat McLaughlin as outgoing SIG Coordinator and presentation of a thank you gift for her years of service. The 2007 minutes were approved by attendees.

      ONS sessions sponsored by SIG (Liz Ness and Pat McLaughlin)

      Bertie Ford session “Eliminating disparities in Clinical Trials”

    • C.

      Clinical Trials Manual 2nd Edition

      SIG project being picked up by ONS National

    • E.

      SIG Virtual Community improvements with online tutorials

  • III.

    SIG Newsletter

    • A.

      Maureen Edgerly, SIG newsletter editor, has served for the past 2 years publishing 6 newsletters. There is a need for help with the newsletters (ideas and articles). She is willing to mentor someone in the role of editor. Anyone interested can contact M. Edgerly at edgerlym@mail.nih.gov)

    • B.

      Three newsletters are required published each year. A list of topics from previously years was presented, along with recurring features in each newsletter.

    • C.

      Ideas were solicited for future newsletters including insurance coverage for CT reimbursement and associated coding, minority enrollment, benefits of certification in CT (CCRC, CCRP), staffing (nurse vs. non-nurse), recruitment and retention.

    • D.

      A list was distributed, for individuals interested in writing or being involved in the newsletter, to write their names so they can be contacted after Congress.

  • IV.

    SIG Virtual Community

    • A.

      L. Ness, web administrator, demonstrated how to navigate the ONS website to find the SIG Virtual Community.

    • B.

      Links to newsletters, Q&A and computer-based learning modules were shown.

    • C.

      L. Ness requested the SIG members review the modules and complete an evaluation (online).

    • D.

      Members interested in writing additional modules can contact L. Ness (nesse@mail.nih.gov). Ideas included budgeting and staffing ratios.

    • E.

      Anyone interested in serving as the web administrator are encouraged to volunteer.

    • F.

      The Virtual Community may be used for recruitment purposes send requests to P. Kennedy and L. Ness.

  • V.

    ONS Research Conference

    • A.

      The conference is held every two years next conference is scheduled for February 12-14, 2009 in Orlando, Florida. L. Ness is part of the planning committee and urged attendees to consider submitting and abstract or attending the conference.

    • B.

      There are also CTNs and APRNs on the planning committee.
