Notice of Race IOS Sailing Club

INTERNATIONAL DART 18 NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIPS Date – 28th, 29th, 30th May 2011

Organizing Authority The Organizing Authority for this Championship is Isle of Sheppey SC (IOSSC) and UKIDA.

Venue The event will be based at Isle of Sheppey Sailing Club. The Championship racing will normally take place within 1 mile of IOSSC.

    Rules

    • 3.1

      Racing will be governed by the rules as defined in the Racing Rules of Sailing..

    • 3.2

      This Notice of Race may be amended at any time. If there is a conflict between this Notice of Race or the Class rules and the Sailing Instructions, the Sailing Instructions shall prevail. This Changes rule 63.7.

    • 3.3

      The forward 25% of the hull on each side shall only display advertising chosen and required by the Organising Authority.

Conditions of entry. 4.1 All boats shall comply with the current class rules and have a current measurement certificate, which shall be

produced at registration. 4.2 All entrants are required to hold third party indemnity insurance with a minimum indemnity limit of £2,000,000 or

equivalent, for the total period of the event and affirm such cover to the Organising Authority. 4.3 The entry fee is £99 if paid before 15th April 2011, £125 if paid before 1st May 2011. For entries received after this

date, the fee will be £150. All helms shall be paid up full members of the International Dart Association or their National Dart Association.

Registration. Registration will take place Saturday 28th May 2011. Sailing instructions will be issued at Registration and may be available on the official website prior to the event.

Boat Scrutineering It is the duty of each competitor to ensure that their boat complies with the class rules. Any boat may be scrutineered at random, either before the first race or at any other time during the event. If a boat fails scrutineering, it will not necessarily be disqualified retrospectively from any race she has sailed up to that time. However any failures must be rectified before competing in any further races of the event. Equipment may only be changed if it is damaged and then only with the permission of the Race Committee. Substitution of the crew shall only be permitted in the event of injury or illness and then only with the permission of the Race Committee.

Identification and Acknowledgement of Risk 7.1 Each owner/competitor is entirely responsible for the boats’ own safety and the safety of its crew, whether the boat is afloat or ashore, and nothing, whether in this Notice of Race or the Sailing Instructions or anywhere else, reduces this responsibility. 7.2 It is for each owner/competitor to decide whether the boat and its crew are fit to sail in the conditions in which it might find itself. By launching or going to sea, the owner/competitor confirms that the boat is fit for those conditions and that its crew is competent to sail and compete in them. 7.3 Under items 7.1 and 7.2, where applicable, parents or guardians of competitors under 18 yrs will be required to take full responsibility for their dependants throughout the event and to sign the parental permission form provided with the entry form. The person accepting this responsibility shall be present for the duration of the Championship. 7.4 Each owner/competitor is responsible for ensuring the boat is equipped and seaworthy so as to be able to face extremes of weather and that the crew has sufficient experience and fitness to withstand such weather.

Liability 8.1 Nothing done by the organizers can reduce the responsibility of each owner/competitor nor will it make the organizers responsible for any loss, damage, death or personal injury, however it may have occurred as a result if the boat taking part in the racing. The organizers encompasses everyone helping to run the race and the event and include the Organising Authority, the National Dart Association, Host Sailing Academy, the Race Committee, the Race Officer, patrol boats and beach masters. 8.2 The provision of patrol boats does not relieve each owner/competitor of his/her responsibilities.
