Contingency planning. A contingency plan is a vital tool to assist response teams to effectively deal with an incident. This session details the key elements of a typical oil spill contingency plan.

Strategic Plan. The document that lays out the oil spill response strategy of the country.

Operational Plan and Incident management (Incident Command System – ICS). Main steps in the response to an oil spill focussing on the need for effective management, rapid decision making, command & control for operations, and response termination

Presentation by a representative of each country of the PERSGA of the main provisions of their National OSCP, in four slides:

1st slide : Alert procedure

2nd slide: Tier level and level of mobilisation

3rd slide: Overview of the national organisation and relation with province/ port/ oil companies etc.

4th slide: Roles and responsibilities of the “On Scene Commander” depending on the Tier level
