GR. GR. 34
The Lexile range typical for students reading at fourth grade level is 600-900.
Students are tested and receive Lexile levels 2-3 times during the year in third grade in Pinellas County. To help you and your third grader select appropriate books, we are providing a list of suggested titles. Pinellas County teachers selected the “√” books as the best examples of the reading expectations at each grade level. One “√” identifies the literary text and “√√” identifies the informational text. When students read books that are too challenging for their current reading abilities, their reading growth is inhibited. If your child finds the books at grade level too challenging, please have him select books that correspond to his Lexile range. Students who struggle with more than five words on a page and show frustration will be more successful reading books that more closely match their reading skills.
