Software Requirements Specification
A provider is every entity that will provide descriptions and locations of remotely sensed data through our system. The perspective providers include research centers and commercial organizations which own remotely sense data.
This actor is the person in charge of reviewing and validating data for the system. Every time a set of data is proposed, it will be the responsibility of the validator to verify the content of the data and validate it, so it can be either accepted and uploaded into the system or rejected. The perspective validator is an administrative staff member from a research center.
The database will hold relations containing all the information that the system needs such as user’s profiles, metadata for both approved remotely sensed data and unapproved remotely sensed data and help topics.
The main features of this software system are:
The system provides an interface for searching for remotely sensed data that is available on-line.
The system provides an interface that enables data providers to describe the data sets they have available.
The system provides an interface that allows validators to accept or reject submitted metadata.
It is important to mention that the system will not manage actual pieces of remotely sensed data, but instead, it manages metadata that points to the actual location of remotely sensed data. Figure 1 contains the Use Case Diagram for the AVS system.
