Our top story this week is the first, BB35 Hard Hat Tour of the Fall 2006 season. Park Marketing Specialist Barbara Tankink-Graf provides the following account of yet another successful HHT:
Hello Everyone, well the hard hat tour for Saturday, October 14th, 2006 was, in my opinion, the most successful tour we've had yet. The weather was perfect. Sunny, with a slight cool breeze, just enough to keep the mosquito's from biting. Ninety-three guests signed up to take this tour, which is the largest reservation count for any tour to date, with eighty-seven actually taking the tour. Three of our guests celebrated their birthdays with us by taking the hard hat tour. Mr. Adan Leal celebrated his 21st birthday, Mr. Andrew DeSplinter celebrated his 16th birthday, and Mr. Joe Galindo…well lets just say he celebrated his 25th birthday. We had some returning guests for their 4th time to take the tour, Wes & Megan Penney. They will be back in January to take the tour again and this time will bring along three more guests, and Donald Sheffield returning for the 3rd time,
Megan & Wes Penney – 4peaters!
bringing along three guests to join him. I want to say a warm get well to Ms. Pam Olson, who took ill during the tour and had to leave, but we're holding a spot for her on the next tour when she's feeling better. A deep and sincere thanks goes to all the docents who gave the hard hat tours, all of you folks are so special. Another big thanks goes to Park Hosts Jim Partridge, for helping with the hard hats and name badges, and to Janet Partridge for keeping all the books straight. They both did a wonderful job. Also, a very special thank you to Susan Smyer for helping with the group photos. Susan did a great job with the photos, and her help was very much appreciated. With so much going on Saturday, the hard hat tour, the Military Time Line Event, several large scout groups and just the day-to-day traffic, I think everyone had a wonderful time and worked very hard to make this a special day for a lot of folks. Thanks again to all the docents for another wonderful hard hat tour and I'll see all of you again at the next one in November, which is by the way booked solid already!
