New York Roommate Shares
The first chart (shown below) is the average price analysis for the 1st half of 2006, 2007 and 2008. The data shows that roommate share rentals have seen significant price increases between the 1st half of 2006 and the1st half of 2008. The rate climbed from $842 to $948 between 2006 and 2007 1st half, a jump of 13% while between 2007 and 2008 prices continued to climb to $1043 per month on average (a 10% increase). This shows how robust the share market continues to be in New York with prices easily record- ing 10% increases and the number of units rented continuing to go up. A large factor in the popularity of roommate share apartments is the persistently high prices of apartments in New York which makes roommate options more appealing even to foreign customers who are less familiar with apartment share situations.
