‘In the village, for the village, children first’

2007 Gala Queen, Prince and Princess competition results

he final of the Competition to find the 2007 Gala Queen, Prince and Princess was held on Friday 11th May at Isleham Village Hall. 24 children entered the competition and more than 100 parents and children thoroughly enjoyed the disco. T

Congratulations to Holly Hermance, aged 9, who was crowned the 2007 Gala Queen, to Heidi Gatter, aged 8, the Gala Princess and to Jake Hoskins, aged 9, the Prince. All the children attend Isleham Primary School. The winners will lead the procession of floats through the village to the recreation ground at the Gala which will be held on Saturday 7th July from 1 pm.

Thank you to our independent judges Pauline Cooke and Ian Shooter of the Garden Design Centre at Scotsdales Garden Centre, Great Shelford, Cambridge. Also thank you to Graeme and Angela Wells who generously sponsor the prize money presented to the winners, JM & MA Thompson & Sons (farmers in the village) for sponsoring the disco and Isleham Guides for supplying the refreshments for the children.

New Scarecrow Competition and much more on the day

O

nce again there will be plenty to do on Gala Day: events include the new Scarecrow Competition, Punch & Judy, balloon modelling, stalls, craft marquee, barbecue and a Real Ale bar, dog show, children’s fun run and other races, displays, amusements and much more. See page 7 (right) and look for posters around the village and in shop windows for details of the competitions, and keep your copy of the Gala Programme that you should find inside this issue of the Informer. o help commemorate 25 years of the new Gala, the Gala Committee are trying to find the albums that contained photos from 1982 to 1995. We know these were kept, but do you have any idea where they might be? T
