GALA DAY COMPETITIONS

ART COMPETITION To be displayed in the Village Hall. Kindly sponsored by Bryan and Pauline Wynne. Entry forms will be distributed through the Playgroup, the Post Office and the Paper Shop. Closing date: Friday 29th June Entries to the Playgroup before 3.30 pm on the day Eligibility: under 5 years of age on 31st August 2007

~ The following competitions must all be entered on the day between 11 am and 12 noon and will be displayed in the Fruit and Vegetable Tent

~ NEW SCARECROW COMPETITION Kindly sponsored by Bryan and Pauline Wynne. Made from any material, no more than 1 metre tall £25.00 to winner from each category

    5 to 7 years of age on 31st August 2007

  • 2.

    8 to 11 years of age on 31st August 2007

  • 3.

    12 to 16 years of ages and over on 31st August 2007

~ FRUIT AND VEGETABLE COMPETITION

    Four potatoes

    A basket of produce from your garden or allotment

~ FLOWER ARRANGING COMPETITION

Rules:

  • A.

    Staging 2’6”.

  • B.

    Accessories may be used.

  • C.

    Fresh flowers and foliage must predominate.

  • D.

    No silk, artificial or dried.

  • E.

    Drapes, stands etc to be provided by exhibitor.

~ GROWN-UPS HOME BAKING

  • 1.

    Six wholemeal bread rolls

  • 2.

    1lb loaf of white bread (breadmakers permitted)

  • 3.

    Six fairy cakes

  • 4.

    Apple crumble

  • 5.

    Chocolate cake to this recipe: 7oz self-raising flour,

8oz caster sugar, 3/4 tsp salt, 2 tbsp cocoa powder, 4oz margarine/butter, 2 eggs beaten with 5 tbsp evaporated milk, 5 tbsp water, 1 tsp vanilla essence. Sift together the dry ingredients then rub in the margarine.

Next, stir in the liquid ingredients and beat well. Pour into two 8” cake tins – this mixture is quite runny. Cook at 180ºC, 325/350˚F or gas mark 3 or 4. When cool, sandwich together with chocolate butter icing.
