Parish Council News

The following are the abbreviated and incomplete versions of the IPC minutes for the February and March meetings. Please remember that any parishioner may request a copy of the full minutes from the IPC.

    C. Powley. POLICE MATTERS Police Report

    • PCSO Gaynor Foster now only working three days per week, is Kieran covering for her? Can we have a phone number for him? Can the council write to the police saying that we are getting very little contact or information?

Neighbourhood Panel

  • Unfortunately no one from Isleham attended the meeting, as people don’t seem to know it is on. This is an opportunity for members of the public to express their views about the Police, District Council and County Council.

  • After the November meeting police were asked to take action at Thirwall Drive in Fordham – there has been a bigger police presence, Hereward Housing are also taking action. Speeding has been and continues to be addressed in all villages.

  • The next meeting will be held on 21st March at Soham Pavilion. This will be attended by representatives from District Council and Environmental Services to discuss the refuse collection trials.

Antisocial Behaviour

  • District Council have set aside money to deal with

antisocial behaviour problems.


VILLAGE HALL MATTERS Report from Village Hall Committee

  • Conditions of hire almost ready to be sent out.

  • New strip light diffusers put on.

  • Need to keep standards up at the village hall until the new community centre is built. RECREATION GROUND MATTERS Report from Recreation Ground Committee

  • Blec have finished works to New Recreation Ground extra area has all been seeded.

  • Football Foundation must have signage erecting three signs centre of each side. Will there be signs for ECDC as they contributed as well?

  • Next payment date from Football Foundation 14th February.

  • New Recreation Ground needs rolling.

  • The Council need to be looking for a tractor with turf tyres before the grass cutting season.

  • To appoint architect for New Community Centre. Several practices interviewed. Johns Practice selected from these. It was agreed that they be appointed subject to contract.

  • Resurfacing Play Area: It was agreed that the chairman and Mrs Malkin make the decision about the resurfacing of the Play Area.

  • Mr Cox and Mrs Malkin have tried to pressure wash the play area but with no success, Chris Harvey is willing to pressure wash the algae off the rubber surfacing at a charge £250 per day however there will be no charge if it does not work. It was agreed that the chairman and Mrs Malkin make a decision regarding this problem.


  • CCC RE: East Fen Drove - It is not possible to widen this road at present. However, the council would like to write to the County Council and County Councillor Powley about the roundabout that is overdue on the Soham By-pass.

CORRESPONDENCE The following correspond- ence was read and duly noted by the council:

  • Mr Irfan Yasan – It was agreed that the P.C. refuse the application for a burger van to be placed on the Priory Green.

  • Staploe Transport Association: there is £400 allocated in the budget for this service .It was agreed that the donation be paid.


  • East Fen Drove improvements involves a land purchase.
