NOTE: Applicants in this category who hold an approved Associate degree, Diploma and Certificate are required to have attained a B+ average.

DEPARTMENTAL REQUIREMENTS: In addition to having at the minimum UWI ma- triculation requirements to pursue the B.Sc. So- cial Work programme, each applicant, irrespec- tive of academic qualifications, must satisfy the following departmental requirements:-

  • 1.

    Two (2) confidential references attesting to suitability for professional Social Work to be submitted to the Assistant Registrar, (Ad- missions).

  • 2.

    Attend as requested for an interview with the Faculty of Social Sciences personnel or in respect of applicants from non-campus countries, with persons nominated by the Faculty.

DIPLOMA PROGRAMMES OFFERED: Diploma in Public Sector Management

[Summer Programme and Normal Stream]

Diploma in Caribbean Studies [Summer Programme ONLY]

Diploma in Security Administration [Summer Programme ONLY]

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS:

Diploma in Public Sector Management

(i)

Be graduates of an approved University

OR

(ii) Hold an approved technical or professional qualification awarded by approved body;

OR

As part of the interview process, the appli- cant will be required to write a personal statement between 250 and 300 words in length, giving his/her reasons for wanting to study for the degree in Social Work.

(iii) Have in the opinion of the University practi- cal experience or other qualifications of spe- cial relevance to the course.

NOTE: The B.Sc. Social Work (Special) is a full- time programme that includes concurrent practicum on designated days.

NOTE: Persons seeking admission, who do not satisfy the requirements at (i) or (ii) above, will normally be required to have had about five (5) years experience in executive or administrative work.
