LOWER LEVEL MATRICULATION
At least five (5) acceptable passes at CSEC (CXC)/GCE, BGCSE including English Language and ONE of the fol- lowing; a Foreign Language, Mathematics, an approved Science subject; Geography.
For the Faculties of Pure and Applied Sciences and Science and Agriculture, Mathematics and two (2) approved Science subjects are required.
For the Faculty of Social Sciences, Mathematics is required
English Language Requirements: English Language is compulsory for admission to all pro- grammes of The University of the West Indies. Candi- dates who do not possess a Grade 1 in CSEC (CXC), English A, a Grade A in GCE O-Level English Language, a Grade 1 in CAPE Communication Studies or a Grade A or B in the GCE General Paper, are required to take an English Language Proficiency Test (ELPT) on entry.
Applicants whose first language is not English are re- quired to perform satisfactorily in an approved English Language Test, e.g. the Test of English as a Foreign Lan- guage (T.O.E.F.L.). A mark of 500 in the TOEFL Test will be accepted as equivalent to, and in place of, an ac- ceptable CSEC (CXC) pass in English (A).
