at the CSEC (CXC) Level, whereas Biology and Chemistry are compulsory at the Advanced level.
Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (M.B.B.S.)
AGE REQUIREMENT: Applicant must be at least 18 years old at the time of admission.
ACADEMIC REQUIREMENTS: The minimum requirements for admission to the Fac- ulty are the candidates performance and attainments in subjects listed below in the Caribbean Advanced Proficiency Examinations (CAPE)/GCE A-Level exami- nations.
Passes in two units of Biology/Zoology, Chemistry, Physics or the GCE A-Level equivalent. CSEC (CXC) General/GCE O-Level Mathematics is required
Passes in both units of Biology/Zoology, Chemistry, Mathematics or the GCE A- Level equivalent. CSEC (CXC) General/ GCE O-Level Physics is required.
Passes in both units of Biology/Zoology, Chemistry or their GCE A-Level equiva- lent and one other two unit or GCE A- Level subject. Passes in CSEC (CXC)General/GCE O-Level Mathemat- ics and Physics is required.
The minimum academic standard for entry is the ag- gregate of a II and two III's in three two-unit subjects at CAPE or the GCE A-Level equivalent.

Transfer applicants to Medical Sciences from the Faculties of Pure and Applied Sciences of the UWI, may be considered on completion of the Preliminary and/or Introductory years of the pro- gramme. All such applicants must complete and submit a Transfer Form (only) by the second Fri- day in January in the year of application.
Persons holding first degrees from Universities other than the UWI will also be considered pro- vided that:
The University which granted the degree is recognized as competitive
Credits have been obtained in Biology/Zo- ology and Chemistry
A minimum cumulative Grade Point Aver- age of 3.0 or its’ equivalent has been ob- tained
NON-ACADEMIC CONSIDERATIONS: All candidates are required to submit a short (300 words or less) autobiographic sketch outlining the reasons for their career choice.
Candidates must produce evidence of their involve- ment in relevant extra-curricular/co-curricular activi- ties in socially oriented projects and voluntary com- munity service in the year prior to their application.
