For the third quarter, you will be doing research on an animal of your choice. Only one student will be allowed to do each animal, so make your selections and give them to me as soon as you can. It is on a first come, first served basis, but be warned- once you have chosen an animal, you may not switch to a different animal.
To submit an animal name, you need to write down its scientific name and common name on a piece of paper along with your name. You will need to do some research on an organism prior to choosing, as there is information you will need about the organism. If you cannot find the information, you don’t want to choose that animal. You are also being given the fourth quarter project which requires additional work on animal behavior. It is advisable to have the same animal for both quarters, so that you limit the amount of research you will have to do. You should check with Brookfield Zoo to see if they have the animal you want to research. Although you are free to select animals that are not mammals, you may wish to make sure you can find the information you want before you select the animal, as there may be limited information available on reptiles, and birds, insects, etc.
Animal choices must be made by Monday, January 24, 2011. An animal will be assigned to you if you have not chosen one by then.
The written report needs to be submitted to TURN IT IN and a copy handed in no later than Tuesday March 1, 2011. This project will count for 20% of your quarter grades.
We will show you how to submit the paper to TURN IT IN, so please make sure it is your own work.
