THEIR MOTHER, LEILA, WHO IS CURRENTLY AN EMERGENCY ROOM PHYSICIAN AND BOTH BROTHERS HAVE HAD THE OPPORTUNITIES TO OBSERVE THE CARE AND COMPASSION THAT THEIR MOTHER EXHIBITED IN TENDING TO HER PATIENTS. SHE WOULD OFTEN ATTEND SATURDAY MORNING SOCCER GAMES AFTER SERVING A FULL GRAVEYARD SHIFT IN THE EMERGENCY ROOM. DURING HIS TIME AT U.S.C., JACOB WAS ACTIVE IN SERVING THE UNDERPRIVILEGED COMMUNITIES BY TUTORING SCHOOL CHILDREN THROUGH U.S.C.'S NEIGHBORHOOD ACADEMIC INITIATIVE AND HELPING TO ORGANIZE A LEADERSHIP ACADEMY FOR FASCHE LEARNING CENTER. DAVID LATER WENT ON TO PERFORM VOLUNTEER WORK AT HOSPITALS IN INDIA AS WELL AS LEADING THE VOLUNTEER PROGRAM IN LOS ANGELES COUNTY U.S.C. MEDICAL CENTER. AS A RESULT OF THESE EXPERIENCES, DAVID CO-FOUNDED THE COLLEGIATE MED VOLUNTEERS PROGRAM AT U.S.C. TO PROMOTE DIRECT PATIENT AND PHYSICIAN CONTACT IN MENTORING OF STUDENTS. JACOB AND DAVID, CONGRATULATIONS ON YOUR-- NOT ONLY YOUR OUTSTANDING ACADEMIC ACHIEVEMENT, COMMUNITY SERVICE ACHIEVEMENTS, BUT THANK YOU FOR YOUR INTEREST IN SERVICE TO THE HEALTH AND WELFARE OF YOUR FELLOW MAN. SO WE WANT TO FIRST OF ALL PRESENT THIS TO JACOB. [ APPLAUSE ]
