C.S.A.C., AND THE LEAGUE OF CALIFORNIA CITIES ARE CO-SPONSORING LEGISLATION CONCERNING THE COUNTY EMERGENCY MEDICAL CARE COMMITTEES. AB-2293 IS INTRODUCED BY ASSEMBLY MEMBER LOIS WALK OF DAVIS, CALIFORNIA, WOULD REQUIRE A COUNTY EMERGENCY MEDICAL CARE COMMITTEE TO REVIEW COMPLAINTS RELATED TO LOCAL EMERGENCY MEDICAL SERVICES IN ITS COUNTY. IT WOULD EXPAND THE SCOPE OF THE COMMITTEE, REQUIRE REPRESENTATION FOR THE LEAGUE OF CALIFORNIA CITIES, AND REDUCE REPRESENTATION OF THE BOARD OF SUPERVISORS AND TO PROVIDE NO FUNDING FOR THIS NEW MANDATE. C.S.A.C. AND THE LEAGUE OF CALIFORNIA CITIES ARE SEEKING TO ESTABLISH SHARED GOVERNANCE OF EMERGENCY MEDICAL SERVICES BETWEEN CITIES AND COUNTIES. UNLIKE LOS ANGELES COUNTY, IN WHICH CITIES HAVE BEEN REPRESENTED FOR YEARS ON OUR EMERGENCY MEDICAL SERVICES COMMISSION, IN SOME COUNTIES, THERE IS NO REPRESENTATION OF CITIES AT ALL. AB-2293 WOULD EITHER REQUIRE L.A. COUNTY TO CHANGE THE COMPOSITION OF ITS EXISTING E.M.S. COMMISSION, WHICH WAS ESTABLISHED BY ORDINANCE TO SERVE THE PURPOSES OF AN EMERGENCY MEDICAL CARE COMMITTEE, OR CREATE A SEPARATE COMMITTEE WHICH WOULD DUPLICATE THE ACTIVITIES OF THE EXISTING COMMISSION AND BE REDUNDANT AND WASTEFUL. ADDITIONALLY, REPRESENTATION OF THE BOARD OF SUPERVISORS AND THE COMMISSION WOULD BE REDUCED FROM FIVE TO ONE. ALTERING THE COMPOSITION OF THE COUNTY'S EXISTING EMERGENCY MEDICAL SERVICES COMMISSION TO CONFORM TO A ONE-SIZE-FITS-ALL PRESCRIBED MEMBERSHIP IS UNNECESSARY AND
