If we want revitalisation or reversal or even revival for Indigenous languages, what role can human rights play?
For most Indigenous peoples, political, economic and social rights are extremely important. They are weak or lacking today. Their achievement often seems to be the first priority.
It might seem for some that linguistic human rights and other cultural rights come only AFTER basic material needs have been satisfied at least to some extent. The two types of right are seen as exclusive.
