Vocabulary Standard # 1.0

What Student Will Know and Read:

    • Specific Grade Level Content

    High frequency/sight words & common abbreviations (See Reading Assessments)

  • 2.

    Content words in the context in which they are being taught

  • 3.

    Know and add inflectional endings to

      base/root words. >Prefixes: re, un >Suffixes: s, es, ies, ed, ing, ful, ly, less

    Phonics-Recognize and use knowledge of spelling patterns (e.g., diphthongs, special vowel spellings) when reading – see Phonics Inventory #10 in Taking a Reading.

    • Decode two syllable nonsense and regular multi-syllable words.
