When the controllershave determinedthat the communicationssystems
are in order, the next step will be to activate batteries in the Airlock
Module and Orbital Workshop and put them on trickle charge from electrical
power supplied by the solar panels. The status of the battery charging
will be evaluatedon later passes of Skylab over Bermuda.
Three flight controllersfrom Houston will be at the Bermuda site.
Bill Peters, the team leader,will be assisted by Harry Black, instru-
mentation and communicationsofficer (INC0),and Steve McLendon, electrical,
general instrumentationand life support officer (EGIL). The reactivation
procedureis expected to be completed in one to two weeks.
Skylab was launchedMay 14, 1973 from Floridaand was visited by
three astronautcrews during 1973-74. The final crew departedFebruary
March 1, 1978
