ORBITER CONTRACT SUPPLEMENTCOVERS l0 CONTRACTCHANGES

The NASA Johnson Space Center has signed a supplemental

agreement to the Rockwell InternationalCorporationSpace Shuttle

Orbiter contractcovering 10 design changes and additions. The Orbiter

contract is cost-plus-awardfee, but most contractchanges are on a

cost-plusfixed-fee basis.

Valued at $2,503,425,the supplementbrings the total estimated

value of the Rockwellcontractto more than $3.2 billion.

Covered in the supplementalagreementare 10 previously-approved

proposals,includinga propellantinvestigation,overlandmove of

Orbiter lO1 from Palmdaleto Dryden Flight ResearchCenter, installation

of an Orbiter closed-circuitTV system, an Orbiter intercomsystem for

approach-and-landin tests, Boeing 747 carrier aircrafthorizontaltail

structure instrumentationload calibration,analysis of externaltank

and solid strap-on booster induced heatingupon the Orbiter, and aid in

carryingout the Orbiter ExperimentsProject.
