MARCH 21, 2005SHAWNEE PLANNING COMMISSION MINUTESPAGE 34
Commissioner Jenkins stated that this is usually something that the Planning Commission does not like to do, but due to the configuration of the building and lot, there is not really an alternative at this point. He stated that the fact that they have upgraded the temporary unit with one that is going to be a little more eye pleasing and the berming that was suggested, which makes it difficult to see, are some mitigating factors in the request as well as the short period of time. He stated that they are asking for under twelve months, which is noteworthy. He stated that he hates to see the units being in place for a year, or more during construction. He noted that due to those considerations he would be supportive of the request.
Commissioner Bedora asked how certain the January 2006 date was.
Michael Book stated that was actually an outside date. He explained that they were hoping to get the addition done sooner than the date requested but that was the projected completion date from Straub Construction.
Commissioner Beckenbaugh stated that given the on going construction of the church building and the construction nature of the site, the addition of the temporary structure would not detract from the on going construction activities and the site in general. He stated that he would agree since it was a short duration that it should be an exception to the general policy and would support the request.
