mother or relative is not on a team’s coaching staff need to attend player evaluations. Each player will be advised during registration whether he/she needs to attend player evaluations. A list of players needing to attend player evaluations will be compiled for each age group and posted on the league website.
Winston Baseball is a non-profit organization run solely by volunteers. parents are encouraged to volunteer to help with league activities. Parent volunteers are needed to serve on the Board of Directors, coaching, “Team Moms”, field maintenance, concession stand, and fund-raising activities. Without parent volunteers there would not be a league for the kids.
All coaches are volunteers and relied on heavily to carry a large burden of responsibility for the league. The coaches are the “life-line” for information that needs to be passed from the league to the parents. (managers, head coaches, assistant coaches, etc.) that is subject to review by the Winston Baseball Board of Directors.
The concession stand is the primary revenue source for Winston Baseball. Each team is asked to work the concession stand six to eight times during the season. The scheduled times to work the concession stand normally occur during an assigned practice time or before or after a scheduled game. The concession stand work times are normally 90 minutes to two hours. Two to three parents from each team are asked to work during a team’s assigned concession stand time.
The board of directors is also searching for someone who has the desire to serve as the Concession Coordinator. The Concession Coordinator will be responsible for notifying teams of the concession schedule, maintaining the concession schedule, stocking the concession stand, and meeting any third party vendors that deliver supplies/food items to the concession. Winston Baseball has provisions to handle league and team sponsorship donations. All team sponsorship donations are allocated to the team and spent at the discretion of the team. The team is also responsible for showing appreciation to the sponsor for their donation (i.e. plaque or banner).
League sponsors donating $300 or more will be given a plaque or have a banner displayed at the park with their company’s name to show appreciation for their generous sponsorship. The monies collected from league sponsorships are placed in the league fund and used for various league expenses. All team and league sponsorship donations are 100% deductible.
