Emissions Measurement and Testing: Particle Emissions from Combustion Sources (Part 1 of 2) (PFL409)

Chat with the Experts: Everything LCA (SDPCHAT100)

Chat with the Experts: Vehicular Emissions in Review (PFLCHAT430)

HVAC Air Handling System Design and Applied CFD (HXCHAT110)

This session focuses on topics related to particle emissions from engines and fuel effects.

Life Cycle Assessment is a methodology that assesses the environmental impacts of a product or service from raw material extraction through disposal. It a credible, robust, scientific methodology used by industry, governments, NGOs and academics to understand which options are more sustainable. In this Chat about Life Cycle Assessment, you will have the opportunity to ask questions about all facets of LCA.

This chat will explore the latest developments in vehicular emissions regarding regulations, engines, NOx control, particulate matter reductions, and hydrocarbon and CO oxidation in the face of proposals for up to 70% tightening of fleet average light-duty criteria emissions likely to be proposed in California for ~2016-22. CO2 regulations in both the heavy- and light-duty sectors will also tighten and impact diesel engines and emissions, probably long into the future.

CAE analysis of all vehicle systems is becoming more critical to meet timing, cost and function. CAE and primarily CFD are important tools for air handling development in developing and predicting hVAC system function and performance. Vehicle attributes such as Defrost and AC performance depend on duct component design that can be developed virtually ensuring minimal testing and shortening vehicle development cycles.
