System Level Architecture Design Tools and Methods (AE318)

Advanced powertrain, chassis, vehicle dynamics and body systems electronic controls testing are complex undertakings in new vehicle development. hILs play an important role in facilitating invention as well as validation of the algorithm, communication and diagnostic code prior to release. This session will highlight advances in process, tools, and technology being applied to reduce design and validation time and cost, and to improve the quality of embedded software.

This session presents papers by leading experts in the field of Intelligent Vehicle Technologies, such as: vehicle communications and networks, driver drowsiness and driving pattern detection, sensors and GPS, vehicle and chassis control and autonomous vehicles, route prediction, head-up displays and power transmission for electric vehicles.

This session focuses on methods and design tools for the exploration, analysis, synthesis, and optimization of E/E automotive architectures. These methods and tools are usually model-based as they are applied in the early phases (left-hand side of the V-Cycle) of the development process. These methods and tools assist designers in deciding and configuring the communication network topology, the allocation of functions to ECU’s, and the IO allocation strategies.
