This session covers new production and near-production hybrid powertrains, hybrid architecture, and testing.

Battery Mechanics address the interest and need in the understanding of mechanics of the high voltage, high power density batteries and the technologies for vehicle integration. Topic includes crash/impact performance, modal performance (e.g. N&V), durability and reliability performance, thermal performance, battery packs and vehicle integration in electric or hybrid- electric vehicles (EV or hEV or PhEV), multi-disciplinary performance optimization, and robust optimization.

This session is devoted to experimental and computational work in the area of diesel fuel injection systems and sprays. Topics include: spray characterization, cavitation, multi-phase jet modeling, CFD models for spray processes, wall films and impingement, hydraulic circuit analysis, and dissolved gas effects. Studies of both gasoline and diesel fuel sprays and fuel injection equipment are encouraged.

The spectrum of papers solicited for this session reflect the truly multidisciplinary nature of the field, covering advances in areas such as chemical kinetics, combustion and spray modeling, turbulence, mesh generation, and approaches targeting improved computational efficiency. Papers employing multi-dimensional modeling to gain a deeper understanding of processes related to turbulent transport, transient phenomena, and chemically reacting, two-phase flows are also encouraged.
