Modeling of SI and Diesel Engines: Engine Emissions and Aftertreatment (PFL208)
This session includes presentations on transmission and driveline components including an annular nozzle for a fixed displacement transmission pump, thermal mapping of a rear axle, differential bevel pinion stress analysis, accumulator sizing, planetary gear load distribution, clutch plate parameters influencing torque and friction stability, and a six sigma approach to optimization of a front wheel drive transmission.
Zero-dimensional, one-dimensional, and quasi-dimensional models for simulation of SI and CI engines with respect to: engine breathing and boosting; SI combustion and emissions; CI combustion and emissions; fundamentals of engine thermodynamics; thermal management; mechanical and lubrication systems; system level models fo
controls; system level models for vehicle fuel economy and emissions predictions.
This session addresses current challenges such as combustion anomalies and applicability of advanced combustion regimes. Also, results regarding the mixture formation and combustion processes in hydrogen direct injection and dual-fuel engines will be presented.
