Three popular methods:

OOSE (Ivar Jacoboson)

OMT-2 (James Rumbaugh)

Booch 93 (Grady Booch)

Rational Software hires Rumbaugh to join Booch in 1994

Booch 93 and OMT-2 melded to create “Unified Method” 0.8

Jacobson joins Rational Software in 1995

Use cases merged into Unified Method to create UML 0.9

Rational partners with industry leaders in 1996 to respond to OMG RFP

UML 1.0 accepted by OMG in 1996
