Donna – Rio Bravo International Border Crossing Period of Performance: April 2001 – Present Project Engineer: S & B Infrastructure Project Cost: $120 Million DL, Inc.’s Role: Legislative Support & Agency Coordination, Public Involvement
Project/Job Description: The City of Donna, through the Donna International Bridge Corporation, entered into a transportation partnership with the Republic of Mexico in an effort to improve the efficiency of border crossing into the Hidalgo County area. DL, Inc. has provided agency coordination between members of the Donna International Bridge Corporation, the professional engineers at S & B Infrastructure and project partners located beyond the border in Mexico. DL, Inc.’s role in the Donna-Rio Bravo International Crossing encompasses strategic planning, expansion, federal appropriations request research and documentation, and public involvement. To date, the Donna International Bridge Corporation has secured over $6.5 million in federal funding. In March 2005, DL, Inc. coordinated the Donna-Rio Bravo International Bridge Press Conference with local, international and Congressional representatives on hand to announce project status information and updates on this new international crossing. Additionally, the Donna – Rio Bravo International Border Crossing has been successful in obtaining the necessary FONSI and environmental clearances required for construction and has been identified by U.S. Customs and the General Services Administration as an official Port of Entry.
