Facebook Privacy Settings

Facebook users can control every single piece of information that they share. Notice at the bottom left of the picture where it has “Customize settings.”

    When a user selects “Customize settings,” they will be able to decide not what only

information they share, but what people share about them.

If you decide the share your Home Address with “Everyone,” anyone who has a Facebook account will be able to see this information.

If you decide to share your Home Address with “Friends and Networks,” not only will your friends be able to see this information, but anyone in your network.

    For example, if you are in the University of Maryland network and “Friends and Networks” is your privacy setting, anyone who is in the University of Maryland Network will be able to see this information.

If you decide to share your Home Address with Friends of Friends, not only will your Friends be able to see this information, but anyone who has the same friend in common as you do.

    For example, Bill is friends with Sam, but not Tom. If Sam is friends with Tom, Tom will be able to see Bill’s information that he has set to the “Friends of Friends” privacy setting even though Bill has no idea who Tom is and has never met him.

If you share your Home Address with “Friends Only,” only people who are on your Friends list will be able to see this information.

When you customize individual settings, you can decide to make information available to only specific people.
