Mr. Gurmeet Singh, Government Senior Secondary School, Mehtan demonstrated ‘Innovative Techniques to Teach Maths’. An expert in his field having prepared more than 300 teaching aids and patent of many teaching aids to his credit demonstrated how these could be used to teach complex geometrical concepts in a lucid manner.
In the evening session, Prof. J. N. Joshi, Professor Emeritus, Panjab University, Chandigarh was the Chief Guest. S. Niranjan Singh, DEO, Mohali was the Guest of Honour. S. Niranjan Singh congratulated the College and Principal for organizing the seminar. Prof. J. N. Joshi emphasized on the regularity and sincerity in learning mathematics. He focused on importance of Science and Maths in all kind of scientific work as well as daily life. The seminar concluded with the distribution of certificates.
During the session 2007-08, four workshops were organized in the Rayat and Bahra College of Education. All the four workshops concentrated on different themes viz. Fine Arts, Science and Technology Communication through Puppetry, Planet Earth and Flower Arrangement.
Workshop on Fine Arts was organized from 17th to 22nd September 2007, which was sponsored and supported by Punjabi University, Patiala. 32 students from 12 colleges of Ropar Zone attended the workshop. Prof. Jagdip Garcha from Department of Fine Arts Punjabi University, Patiala and Mr. J. P. Singh from Government College of Fine Arts, Chandigarh were the resource persons. Dr. (Mrs.) Sunita Dhir, Director, Department of Youth Welfare, Punjabi University, Patiala presided over the valedictory function and gave away certificates to the participants. An exhibition of items prepared by the students during the workshop was also organized. Sh. Gurvinder Singh Bahra, Vice Chairman of Rayat-Bahra Group, Prof. C. M. Bahl, Managing Director of the group attended the function and highly praised the work done by the students.
