Sensor analysis with the DSO
Engine speed sender G28

The engine speed sender is a speed and refer- ence marker sender. The engine does not run without this signal.
The adjacent circuit diagram shows the electrical connections on the engine speed sender G28 of the 1.8 l/92 kW petrol engine. The signal for analysis by the DSO is measured at the following contacts:
DSO 1 (+) DSO 1 (–)
Contact 1 (signal)
Contact 2 (ground)
Remove the connector from the engine speed sender G28 and connect again using the meas- uring leads
V.A.G. 1594/2 and
from the V.A.G. 1594A test set.
The speed signal between contacts 1 and 2 can then be displayed as a curve on the DSO.
