The working group is attempting to propose a method to reduce the VOC emissions created during tank cleaning operations. To this end the working group has continued its work in developing its operational flow chart attached to this agenda in Appendix 9. This is based upon studies and operations carried out in a major port in Europe but this may have implications to guidelines outlined in ISGOTT.

The committee is invited to review and comment.

CLEANING STANDARDS GROUP

The cleaning standards working group has compiled data illustrating the diversity in the cleaning standards requirements that exist today. This is provided for the perusal of the committee under Appendix 10 together with a suggested proposal towards standardisation which is also attached to the agenda under Appendix 10.

Appendix 10 will be circulated as a separate addendum to this agenda before the committee meets.

The efforts of the WG are directed towards achieving a level of standardisation in the industry where cleaning requirements are concerned.
