Hometown girl makes it big! Susan Randolph was born and raised here in Woodstock. She went to Woodstock Elementary, Et Booth and Etowah. She received her undergrad degree from Kennesaw State University then her Masters from Grand Canyon University and is currently working on her Doctorate from North Central University. She became gifted certified in 2003 and is currently working on the Teach 21 program and plans to complete it in May 2008 with the Capstone project about the history and future of Little River Elementary. She loves using technology in the classroom to help students engage in real world applications of knowledge. She believes in using technology (morning announcements) to build team spirit among all students. She also believes in training the whole child including character quality and manners.
She has been married for 10 years to Eric, her high school sweetheart and has three children Grant 7, Ansley – who died in 2003 of genetic disease, Pompe’s, and Dasha 9 – who was adopted in December 2005 from St. Petersburg, Russia. She lives in the Towne Lake area. She is also very active in her community; she sits on the board of New Horizons for Children – to bring orphans from Eastern Europe to the US each summer and winter so they can receive medical treatment and experience a “real” family. She also supports Chrildren’s Healthcare of Atlanta due to her experience there with Ansley and Dasha’s weekly visits and treatment. She is active in her church NorthStar in Acworth and helps to organize vacation Bible school and works with community home groups. She enjoys computer-aided scrapbooking, reading, and web design in free time. As a family they love playing video games and camping.

As you have all heard by now there is a new face in the office. Her name is Paula Merritt. Mrs. Merritt is our new Assistant Principal working along side Mrs. Puhy. Though she is new to us here at Little River she is not new to education. Mrs. Merritt has been in education for 14 years and… she’s a DAWG ya’ll, she got her undergraduate degree from UGA, her masters from Nova Southeastern and completed her masters course work in Special Education at University of Northern Florida and is currently pursuing her doctorate. She is also not new to Cherokee county, she lives in Bridge Mill and wanted to work closer to home and serve in her community. She has been married to Charlie for 7 years. Her hobbies include singing in the church choir, President of the University of Georgia Cobb chapter, traveling, shopping, cooking, decorating, judging cheerleading and pageants and volunteering in the community. She also loves Godiva and Dove chocolates (hint hint students.)
Her favorite school time memory was from her 6th grade teacher, “Ms. Dye was so nurturing to all students and encouraged me to reach above and beyond my potential. She entered me in the school Spelling Bee and I happened to win.”
Welcome to Little River Mrs. Merritt
