5 STEPS TO TAKE DESIGNING THE LEARNING EXPERIENCES
Design and deliver pre-assessments based on summative assessments and identified objectives.
* Pre-assessments are usually “cut-to-the-chase” versions of summative assessments, so we can’t create them until the we’ve designed the latter.
* Pre-assess students a week ahead of the first day of a new unit so you have sufficient time to analyze the data and create effective differentiated lessons, implementing them on the first day.
* After pre-assessing students, begin to group them according to their understanding of each standard or outcome—below/on/above grade level.
