Navajo Co. Horse 4-H Leader’s Council Meeting
Eva’s Restaurant, Snowflake - Wednesday, June 4, 2008 MEETING NOTES
In attendance: Sherri Henson, Leader, Stephanie Lavarnway, Member, Gina Muha, Leader, Jessi Muha, Member, Amy Jo Perkins, Leader, Lorraine Rencher, Leader, Shasta Van Cleave, Leader, Ayla Ybarra, Member, Dawnna Ybarra, Parent
It was announced that Chairperson Julie Forney had resigned as of June 2, 2008 via email to
the 4-H office due to family obligations. Discussion was held as to whether or not a replace ment should be voted in. As a group it was decided to split up the duties between the persons
present with Shasta serving as the point person. Regarding the upcoming practice show scheduled for July 24th
Dawnna will oversee
the English portion on the 24th and Gina and Sherrie will oversee the Western portion on the 25th. Shasta will check with Julie to see if she has already made arrangements for a judge.
Dawnna will let Shasta know what time the show will begin on show will start at 9:00 AM.

Shasta announced that via an email from Beverly Goodnight in the 4-H office we will be required as a council to have by-laws. A copy of the Yavapai County Horse Council By-laws was shared. Each leader will receive a copy for their own review. Voting on by-laws and officers will be tabled until the fair is over.
Record books will still be due to the leaders before August 20th so that they can be checked at a council meeting that evening. The leaders will verify that members have their records up-to- date. For Achievement Days:
Dawnna will oversee the project knowledge tests. Amy Jo and Lorraine will oversee awards. Shasta will go to Julie's house to pick up the left over ribbons from last year. Gina will over see the trail class. Shasta will ask Julie where the obstacles are and find a judge. Lorraine will provide the cones for reining and western riding. She will also put the packets together and man the check-in table. Shasta will check with Sara Hansen, Fair Board Member, to find what the entry deadline is. She will also find a ring steward for both days. Per Stephanie, Doug Lavarnway will assist in finding help to set up the jumps for English. Everyone will look for
goats for goat tying. There will be a grand entry before the timed events on Wednesday, September 10th
PM. Amy Jo will have the music and flags. All 4-Hers will be encouraged to participate in the
grand entry. Next meeting Wednesday, July 2nd
